Allowing your imagination to run wild for big bucks is possible. After much research, here’s a list of the top 8 jobs that pay big for creativity.
1. Graphic Designer
Dazzle clients by transforming their ideas with creative work to promote their goods or services, communicating visually to their end clients creatively enough for them to seek accept their offer.
Training: Short certification courses, Interactive media, bachelor’s in computer aided design, animation, or graphic design and multimedia. Shorter certificate programs can also help you keep pace with the competition.
Pay: Average salary of $42,400 in 2008. Those specializing in computer systems design earned an average of $47,860.
2. Marketing Professional
Can you come up with fresh ideas to communicate to consumers? Can you brainstorm with a team?
Training: Marketing/communications programme especially with an MBA can help you. However those with a knack are on their way.
Pay: Marketing managers earned an average of $108,580 per year in 2008.
3. Detective/Forensics
So you love detective stories, or you love investigating and prying discreetly? Here’s a job that calls for creativity especially when going undercover.
Training: Legwork is a must. However a creative mind is a plus. A degree in forensics/crime scene, police & law enforcement, or criminal justice or even relating journalism can help make that your job description. Again a creative knack and a bit of foresight into the thought pattern of the ‘criminal’ being hunted can help a lot.
Pay: The median annual wage for detectives and criminal investigators in 2008 was $60,910.
4. Business Entrepreneur
If you can dream it, you can achieve it – but are you bold enough, persistent enough, creative enough?
Training: Some start with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business administration or e-business/e-commerce, and finish with an MBA.
Some just begin with an idea and persist along a winding and tedious road of advice and experience.
Pay: SimplyHired.com says the average entrepreneur earns $111,000.
5. Video Game Designer
Video game designers sometimes begin with creating a newer version of their world or just creatively recording their own or ideal world.
Training: Imagining that brave new world comes first, then getting a degree in video game design or animation can go a far way to reality.
Pay: Video game designers new to the job make about $46,000, according to AnimationArena.com.
6. Forensic Accountant
In that dirty business of money laundering it takes creative accountants to visualize how the white collar criminals think and outsmart them.
Training: Math courses, a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration. An associate’s degree in accounting can help you land a more entry-level job.
Pay: Accountants and auditors earn $59,430, with the top ten percent clearing over $100,000, according to the Department of Labor.
7. Teacher
An active imagination and a flair for creativity helps teachers connect with students, inspiring those they do.
Training: Active imagination – and credentials by experience, education degree or teaching certificate.
Pay: Forbes magazine says new teachers made $49,000 in 2005-06, the most recent year for which data is available.
8. Chef
Being a chef is an exciting advantage if you can be innovative and inventive, and artistic.
Training: Prior experience gets you in, but with more formal training, example a degree in culinary arts you earn more than an edge.
Pay: Chefs, and head cooks earn an average of $38,770 per year. That average goes up ($44,660 per year) for those in traveler accommodation.
